Patna: Creating social media reels on railway tracks or inside restricted areas of railway stations in Patna and across the Danapur Railway Division will now attract strict legal action. Railway authorities have announced a special enforcement campaign under which violators may face fines ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000, along with imprisonment of up to six months in serious cases.
The initiative has been launched to curb the growing trend of people filming videos in dangerous railway zones and to improve passenger safety.
Special Surveillance Teams Deployed
The Railway administration has constituted dedicated surveillance teams at major stations, including Patna Junction, Patliputra, Rajendra Nagar, Danapur, Ara, Buxar and Rajgir.
Working under the supervision of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Station Masters and Traffic Inspectors, these teams will monitor station premises in eight-hour shifts and identify people recording reels in prohibited areas.
CCTV Monitoring Strengthened
Apart from physical surveillance, railway authorities will also use CCTV control rooms to monitor suspicious activities across stations.
Anyone found walking on railway tracks or creating reels in restricted areas will be identified through surveillance footage and legal action will be initiated as per railway regulations.
Fine of Up to Rs 5,000, Jail for Serious Violations
According to railway officials, entering prohibited railway zones or filming reels on railway tracks can attract penalties ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000.
In cases involving serious violations or safety risks, offenders may also face imprisonment for up to six months under applicable railway laws.
Railway Officials Issue Strict Instructions
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) Abhinav Siddharth of the Danapur Division said that unnecessarily roaming on railway tracks, damaging railway property or creating reels in restricted areas are punishable offences under the Indian Railways Act.
He said detailed instructions have been issued to all Station Masters, Station Managers, RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel to ensure strict implementation of the rules.
Campaign Aims to Prevent Accidents
Railway authorities said that a rising number of youngsters have recently been seen filming reels on railway tracks and within station premises, significantly increasing the risk of fatal accidents.
The special drive has been launched to discourage such activities, protect passengers and ensure the safe operation of train services across the division.
