Patna: Construction of the Patna Ring Road, one of Bihar’s most ambitious road infrastructure projects, is progressing rapidly as authorities push ahead with work across multiple phases. The nearly 150-kilometre-long ring road is being developed in eight phases and is expected to significantly improve connectivity between Patna and neighbouring districts while supporting urban expansion.
Several stretches of the project have already been completed, with work now focused on the remaining sections.
Final Phase to Connect Dighwara and Sarai
The last phase of the project involves the construction of a 30-kilometre road between Dighwara and Sarai at an estimated cost of Rs 1,500 crore.
The stretch will connect the districts of Saran and Vaishali, providing a stronger transport link between Patna and North Bihar. Officials believe the new corridor will improve regional mobility and reduce travel time for commuters and commercial vehicles.
Route to Pass Through Key Locations
According to the proposed alignment, the ring road will connect several important locations, including Kanhauli, Sherpur, Sarai, Kacchi Dargah, Bidupur, Chaksikandar, Dighwara and Didarganj.
The project is expected to play a key role in decongesting Patna’s roads by diverting heavy vehicles away from the city. This is likely to reduce pressure on major urban corridors and improve traffic flow within the state capital.
Economic Benefits Expected Across Region
Once completed, the Patna Ring Road will connect seven National Highways and five major roads, creating an integrated transport network around the city.
The project is also expected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate economic activity across Patna, Saran and Vaishali districts. Experts believe it could accelerate the development of industrial clusters, logistics hubs and residential projects along the corridor.
With construction continuing at pace, the ring road is expected to emerge as a key driver of regional growth and infrastructure development in Bihar.
