Patna: The Bihar government has stepped up efforts to improve traffic movement in Patna, with the secretary of the road construction department inspecting four major infrastructure projects currently under way across the city. The visit was aimed at reviewing progress and ensuring that work is completed on time without compromising construction quality.
During the inspection on Monday, road construction department secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal visited several key project sites, including the Khagaul–Nehru Path to Ashok Rajpath route via Rupaspur Canal Road, the box drain-cum-road project connecting Rupaspur to Saguna More, and projects designed to improve connectivity from both sides of Gola Road and Nehru Path to Patlipath. Officials said these projects are intended to create alternative traffic corridors, which will help reduce pressure on Patna’s already congested main roads.
According to the department, the new corridors will allow smoother movement of vehicles by diverting traffic away from overcrowded routes. One of the most important projects is the connectivity work between both sides of Nehru Path and Patlipath, which is being implemented by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL). The estimated cost of this project is around Rs 143.86 crore, reflecting its scale and importance for the city’s transport network.
During the visit, Pal directed engineers and officials to complete the projects on a priority basis while maintaining high construction standards. He specifically asked engineers to pay close attention to the reinforced cement concrete (RCC) structures to ensure they are strong, durable and completed within the scheduled timeframe. He also reminded officials that projects announced during the chief minister’s recent progress review must be finished within the stipulated time.
Senior officers and engineers from the road construction department were present during the inspection. The department said regular monitoring will continue so that these long-awaited road projects can be completed quickly, offering relief to commuters and improving overall traffic flow in Patna.
