Patna: Road Construction Minister and Bankipur MLA Nitin Nabin laid the foundation stone for the renovation of three roads in Patna on Friday, aiming to improve traffic flow and reduce waterlogging in urban areas.
Speaking at the foundation stone ceremony, where local ward councillors and residents were present, Nitin said the NDA government is committed to ensuring smooth and systematic traffic across Bihar’s cities. “The construction of these roads will give new impetus to urban development and make travel more comfortable and safe,” he said, adding that roads and water taps are being constructed under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme for urban improvement.
The three roads, to be built at a total cost of Rs 80 lakh in Ward 28, include the PCC road from Aditi Community Hall to Hem Plaza at a cost of Rs 14.74 lakh, the PCC road from Daffodil to Dr Sangeeta Singh’s residence at Rs 40.50 lakh, and the PCC road from Bhattacharya Road Mod, Ashish Lok Apartment to Gali No. 1 via Free Press Lane at Rs 24.18 lakh.
In the last 25 days, Nitin has laid the foundation stone for 28 roads under the scheme, covering a total expenditure of around Rs 14 crore. Many of these projects include the construction of underground drains alongside the roads.
Implemented in 2024-25, the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme focuses on developing urban infrastructure by constructing municipal roads that connect to national highways, main roads, or link roads and are of public utility. Priority is given to roads benefiting larger populations and those near tourist sites, educational institutions, and hospitals.
The scheme also aims to address traffic jams, reduce congestion on various roads, and improve traffic movement by constructing dividers, underground cabling, and installing street lights.
