The administration has also imposed sweeping restrictions on political activities. Victory processions have been completely banned, with officials stating that no rallies, dharnas, demonstrations or politically motivated gatherings will be permitted. The use of loudspeakers has also been prohibited. “There will be no compromise on maintaining law and order,” the order said, adding that any action contrary to the conditions of election permits will not be tolerated.
The ban on victory processions will remain in force across Patna district until November 16, in line with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), which stays effective until that date. A prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023 has also been implemented from counting day until the end of the MCC period.
Dr Thiyagarajan said the administration is committed to ensuring a “free, fair, fear-free, peaceful and transparent” counting process. He praised residents for their enthusiastic participation in voting, noting that polling had been conducted “smoothly and in a festive atmosphere.”
With political tensions rising ahead of the November 14 results, security has been intensified across the district, and the election machinery is on high alert.
