Patna: A fire that broke out in a cosmetics shop in Patna’s Danapur area on Friday morning has caused losses estimated at around Rs 10 lakh, officials said.
The blaze, believed to have been triggered by a short circuit, started at a shop on Vijay Singh Yadav Path under the Danapur police station limits. Thick smoke was first noticed at about 7am, before flames rapidly intensified and threatened nearby establishments.
Five fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, and firefighters managed to bring the fire under control after a prolonged operation. No casualties have been reported.
Fire crews also prevented the blaze from spreading to adjacent grocery and jewellery shops, which were at risk as the flames grew stronger.
The shop owner, Amit Kumar, said he was informed early in the morning that smoke was rising from his premises. “By the time I reached, the fire had already intensified,” he said, adding that he immediately alerted the fire department.
Officials confirmed that property worth approximately Rs 10 lakh, along with about Rs 10,000 in cash, was destroyed in the incident.
Vijay Shankar Yadav, an assistant officer with the fire department, said the fire was likely caused by an electrical short circuit. He added that a combination of small and large fire tenders were deployed to contain the blaze, and neighbouring shops were successfully protected.
