Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation on Wednesday launched the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign from Kachi Talab Ghat in Ward 16, marking the start of a two-week citywide cleanliness initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Sanitation workers and school children took a cleanliness pledge, after which officials flagged off cleaning vehicles to begin operations across the city. The campaign, running from September 17 to October 2, will include garbage collection, awareness rallies, exhibitions, and citizen dialogues.
The event was attended by senior political and civic leaders including Bihar’s road construction minister, Nitin Nabin, urban development and housing minister, Jibesh Kumar, deputy mayor Reshmi Kumari, municipal commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar, and senior officers of the urban development department.

Addressing school children, Minister Nitin Nabin said cleanliness was part of India’s cultural heritage but needed to become a “continuous practice”. Minister Jibesh Kumar added: “Cleanliness is not only a service, but also a national duty. Only with collective participation can Patna become a clean and ideal city.”
Municipal commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar said the campaign sought to involve residents in building “a clean, healthy, and beautiful city”. Citizens were urged to adopt cleanliness as a daily habit and actively participate in the programme.
