Patna: A 19-year-old student was shot dead on a Patna street on Sunday morning, sparking panic in the Saristabad neighbourhood.
The victim, identified as Raj Krishna, was on his way out for work when unidentified assailants opened fire in the Gardnibagh police station area. He was rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition but was declared dead on arrival.
Police cordoned off the crime scene and recovered bullet shells. Forensic experts examined the site, while officers began reviewing CCTV footage and recording witness statements in an effort to identify those responsible.
The killing has left residents of Saristabad shaken. Locals said the daylight attack has created an atmosphere of fear and urged police to arrest the perpetrators swiftly and strengthen security in the area.
Krishna’s family expressed shock at his sudden and violent death. Police officials have assured them that the culprits will be tracked down soon.
Security has been stepped up across the area and a manhunt has been launched. “The investigation is ongoing, and the accused will be arrested shortly,” a police spokesperson said.
