Patna: The NSS Unit of Patna Women’s College organised the opening event of the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan at BJ Sullivan Hall on September 18, bringing together 160 NSS volunteers for an awareness programme focused on addiction-free living and youth participation.
The programme was organised under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The event aimed to familiarise volunteers with the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Addiction-Free India Campaign) and encourage them to spread awareness among students and young people.

BK Sneha Raj Leads Session on Digital Addiction
The programme began with the arrival of Chief Guest BK Sneha Raj from Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwari Vishwa Vidyalaya, Patna, along with the NSS Programme Officers.
The orientation session focused on contemporary challenges related to addiction, with particular emphasis on the growing problem of digital addiction.
BK Sneha Raj interacted with the volunteers and discussed ways to regain control over thought processes by replacing excessive digital engagement with positive thoughts, meditation and mindful living.
She also introduced a practical “Digital Screen Challenge”, encouraging participants to consciously manage their screen time and develop healthier daily habits.

Focus on Youth Participation and Healthy Lifestyle
Addressing the gathering, BK Sneha Raj highlighted the importance of youth participation in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
She encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyles and contribute to society through awareness and community service. The session also focused on protecting young people from substance abuse and developing habits that support physical and mental well-being.
The interactive session provided volunteers with practical approaches to managing digital dependence and promoting healthier routines.
NSS Programme Officers Welcome and Felicitate Guest
Dr. Brahma Nand from the Department of Hindi, NSS Programme Officer, delivered the welcome address and formally welcomed the chief guest and participants.
Later, both NSS Programme Officers, Dr. Brahma Nand and Dr. Jyoti Chandra from the Department of Chemistry, jointly felicitated BK Sneha Raj as a gesture of respect and appreciation.
160 Volunteers Take Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge
A key part of the programme was the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan pledge, which was taken collectively by all participants.
The volunteers pledged to promote an addiction-free lifestyle and spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse within their communities.
The pledge formed an important part of the campaign’s objective of involving young people in efforts to build greater awareness around addiction prevention.
Ayushi Arya Moderates Programme
The programme was moderated by Ayushi Arya, NSS Unit Leader, who coordinated the sessions and facilitated the transitions between the various speakers and programme segments.
The event also highlighted the role of NSS volunteers in organising awareness activities and encouraging youth-led community engagement.
Programme Concludes With Vote of Thanks
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Satya Bhardwaj, who expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, college authorities, NSS Programme Officers and volunteers for their participation and support.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Jyoti Chandra and Dr. Brahma Nand, NSS Programme Officers. Their support helped ensure the smooth participation and coordination of the volunteers throughout the event.
