Patna: Exciting news for families and children visiting Patna’s Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, or Patna Zoo: the toy train that has been stopped for several years is set to start running again. The state government has approved Rs 581.73 lakh for the project. The work will be carried out by the Danapur Railway Division, East Central Railway, and will include all the construction and safety measures needed to restart the train safely.
The new toy train will travel along a track that is 3.7 kilometres long. It will start at the Children’s Station and pass by many important areas in the zoo, including the hyena enclosure, zoo hospital, food warehouse, and the lion, tiger, and bear enclosures. The train will finish its journey at the bird enclosure. There will be four coaches in total, and each coach will have seating for 20 to 30 passengers. The engines will be battery-operated and eco-friendly, so they will not harm the environment.
The toy train was stopped in 2015 after several accidents where the wheels came off the tracks. This led the authorities to suspend the service for safety reasons. Now, after careful planning and construction, the train is ready to return. The project will include building a bridge retaining wall, a proper drainage system, and other repairs to ensure that accidents do not happen again.
Patna Zoo continues to improve its facilities to attract more visitors. Officials hope the new toy train will become a favourite among children and families visiting the zoo. Even though a bird flu alert is currently in place, the zoo is taking all precautions to keep visitors safe. The revival of the toy train is expected to make trips to Patna Zoo more enjoyable and memorable for everyone.
