Patna: Patna witnessed the launch of its first robotic restaurant on Sunday, as robots served food and delivered bills to customers within just one minute of ordering. Located in Gravity Mall, Kankarbagh, the restaurant attracted large crowds eager to see and take selfies with the robots on its inaugural day.
The owner, Rajkumar, an IHM Bangalore graduate with 15 years of international culinary experience, including ITC Mumbai and US-based Royal Cambrian, left a job with a Rs 24 lakh annual package to open the restaurant. Inspired by a similar robotic restaurant in Hyderabad, he said, “I saw children enjoying the robots more than the food there, and I wanted to bring that experience to Patna.”
Former MP Arun Kumar, who visited the restaurant, called it a “great initiative” that brings metro-city technology to Patna. Customer Prince said the restaurant felt like being in a metro city, while Rituraj Kumar praised the technological advancement for the city’s dining culture.
The restaurant features attractive interiors, a children’s play zone, and a diverse menu of Indian, Chinese, Tandoori, and Continental cuisines. Rajkumar employs 22 staff, paying his head chef Rs 40,000, chef de partie Rs 30,000, cooks Rs 25,000, and general staff Rs 15,000 per month. He added that while the robots are currently functional, further upgrades will enhance their capabilities to serve customers even better.
