Patna: The Bihar Police has effected a routine transfer at Pirbahore Police Station in Patna, appointing Raj Kumar Singh, the Circle Inspector of Shastrinagar, as the new Station House Officer (SHO) on June 21, 2026.
The posting comes after Sajjad Gaddi was relieved of his SHO responsibilities and reassigned as Circle Inspector in a departmental reshuffle, officials said.
Administrative Reshuffle
According to police sources, the change was part of a routine transfer exercise within the Patna police district. No official statement suggesting extraordinary circumstances behind the posting has been issued by senior police authorities.
Singh, who was serving as Circle Inspector in Shastrinagar, has now taken charge of the station with immediate effect.
Previous Tenure Changes
Internal records cited in reports suggest that the last comparable administrative change involving a Hindu officer at the station occurred several decades ago, with G. Kumar serving as SHO between November 30, 1987, and March 23, 1990.
Officials familiar with historical postings stated that several officers from different backgrounds have served at the station over the years, particularly during earlier administrative phases.
Long-Term Posting Pattern Claims
Reports referencing departmental history indicate that Z. Ahmed took charge as SHO on March 23, 1990, and since then, successive postings have continued under different officers over time.
However, police officials have not formally linked present-day transfers with historical patterns, reiterating that such changes are part of standard administrative procedures.
Context of Transfers
Senior officials maintain that SHO-level transfers are regularly carried out across districts based on operational requirements, tenure completion, and administrative review.
The latest change at Pirbahore police station is part of this broader restructuring within the Patna police establishment.
