Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading a grand 2.8-kilometre roadshow through the heart of Patna, as thousands of supporters line the streets waving party flags and showering petals along the route ahead of the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections.
Riding in a flower-decorated vehicle, PM Modi has been joined by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lallan Singh), MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, and BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal. The Prime Minister is greeting supporters with folded hands, holding the BJP’s lotus symbol, while some residents are performing aarti from rooftops as his cavalcade passes by.
The roadshow began from Dinkar Chowk in Kadamkuan and stretched to Udyog Bhawan near Gandhi Maidan, covering key parts of the state capital. Along the way, candidates from Patna’s six assembly constituencies — Patna Sahib, Kumhrar, Danapur, Digha, Bankipur, and Phulwari — have joined PM Modi’s chariot one by one, symbolising unity within the NDA alliance.
Ten welcome points were set up along the route as BJP workers, women supporters, and youth volunteers thronged the barricades chanting “Modi-Modi” and “Jai Shri Ram.”
The event, which showcased the NDA’s strength across Patna district’s 14 assembly constituencies, notably took place without Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was campaigning elsewhere in the state.
Following the roadshow, PM Modi is scheduled to visit Takht Sri Harimandir Sahib Gurudwara in Patna City to offer prayers before attending a dinner meeting with NDA leaders at Raj Bhavan.
Heavy security was deployed across the city, though traffic snarls were reported near R Block intersection, where impatient commuters broke through barricades as the Prime Minister’s convoy passed.
