Patna: Congress MP Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of hypocrisy, claiming that the Prime Minister greets those accused in corruption cases with folded hands while students demanding employment are met with police violence.
Speaking at a press conference in Patna on Sunday, Singh said the Grand Alliance would hold a decisive edge once results of the first phase of the elections are declared. He further alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is engaged in a conspiracy to “malign and label” Chief Minister Nitish Kumar as mentally unwell.

“Modi ji greets the accused in the Srijan scam in Bhagalpur with folded hands, but when students demand jobs, their limbs are broken by the police,” Singh said. He also alleged that Janata Dal (United) leader Lalan Singh had gifted a house worth crores to Nitish Kumar’s son. “Those who accuse others of jobs in exchange for land should explain whether the Chief Minister’s son received a flat in exchange for a ministerial position at the Centre,” he added.
Congress national secretary Pranav Jha echoed Singh’s criticism, asserting that the people of Bihar have consistently stood against injustice. “The soil of Bihar smells of justice, equality and brotherhood, which is why the BJP continues to lose here,” Jha said.
Jha also accused the Prime Minister of trivialising Bihar’s youth. “While Modi ji talks about making reels, the youth of Bihar are clearing competitive exams and achieving results. This is an insult to their hard work,” he said, further alleging that “ordinary citizens are unsafe even under CCTV surveillance, while the BJP feels safe only when the cameras are turned off.”
Former Bihar Congress working president Kaukab Qadri added that the state’s youth seek freedom from unemployment and migration. “We have gained momentum in the first phase of elections and will maintain our lead in the second,” Qadri said.
