Patna: The Empowered Standing Committee of the Patna Municipal Corporation has approved a series of proposals aimed at expanding civic amenities and strengthening urban infrastructure across the city.
Meeting on Monday at the mayor’s office in the Maurya Lok Complex, the committee, chaired by the mayor, Sita Sahu, endorsed development works for the 2025–26 financial year, including the construction and improvement of roads, drains and pedestrian pathways in multiple municipal wards. The proceedings of earlier ordinary meetings, as well as the fourth special meeting related to the 2025–26 budget, were also confirmed.
Among the measures approved were projects for underground drainage, installation of fire hydrants, construction and repair of manholes, operation of manhole ambulances and high-yield boring at various locations. The committee also cleared Councillor Scheme 4.0 for all wards under the municipal corporation.

Specific approvals were granted for drinking water supply, pipeline expansion, drainage and road improvement works in wards 03, 07, 25, 30, 42, 57, 63, 65, 67, 69 and 70, among others. Proposals for building community halls, developing parks and public spaces, and undertaking urban beautification initiatives were also passed.
The committee further approved steps to strengthen solid waste management, including the selection of an agency to process coconut husks generated daily in the city. In line with the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 and the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, it also cleared proposals for appointing an agency and fixing rates for e-waste awareness, collection and processing, with the aim of promoting environmentally sustainable practices and public awareness.

Addressing the meeting, the mayor said the corporation’s priority was to accelerate development works, expand civic amenities and transform Patna into a cleaner and more organised city. The municipal commissioner, Yashpal Meena, said all approved projects would be implemented within stipulated timelines and in accordance with quality standards, adding that departments had been directed to monitor progress regularly to ensure timely public benefit.
Members of the empowered standing committee present at the meeting included Anita Devi, Kaveri Singh, Kanti Devi, Kumar Sanjeet, Manoj Kumar and Vinod Kumar.
