Patna: In a bid to tackle the annual surge in dengue and chikungunya cases during the monsoon, Patna Municipal Corporation has rolled out a stringent anti-larva and fogging campaign, coupled with special monitoring at both zone and headquarters levels.
According to officials, sector-wise teams will be formed in each ward, comprising two workers – one carrying an anti-larva spray machine and the other maintaining records. Each team has been tasked with spraying anti-larva chemicals in at least 50 houses daily.
Workers engaged in spraying will mandatorily wear PPE kits. Executive Officers have been instructed to assign responsibility for maintaining registers and collecting feedback from residents. After each spraying activity, teams will fill out a dengue awareness register, recording the signature and mobile number of the head or member of each household.
Additionally, forms documenting daily spraying work will be submitted to zonal offices with the signature and seal of the respective ward councillor.
To ensure accountability, control rooms will operate in all six zones throughout the monsoon. These control rooms will make random verification calls to 50 houses daily, with data checked during surprise inspections. Officers in charge will also contact 10 households from each zone daily while receiving reports at the headquarters.
Officials stated that these measures aim to protect residents, particularly in waterlogged areas, from vector-borne diseases that peak during the rains each year.
