Patna: The festive indulgence of Diwali often leaves many grappling with bloating, gas, and a sense of heaviness. Nutritionists say a gentle detox can help refresh the digestive system, boost energy, and even enhance skin radiance.
Starting the day with a glass of lukewarm water, infused with lemon or fenugreek seed water soaked overnight, can stimulate digestion, cleanse the liver, and flush out toxins. Herbal teas such as green tea, basil, or ginger tea are recommended throughout the day. Green tea’s antioxidants aid fat metabolism, while ginger and basil help reduce bloating and soothe the stomach.
Dietary adjustments are equally crucial. Experts advise avoiding fried foods and favouring fibre-rich, light meals such as vegetable salads, thin soups, oats, and fruits like papaya, apples, and pomegranates to aid digestion. Hydration is also key: 8-10 glasses of water daily can naturally support the body’s cleansing processes. Physical activity, whether a 30-minute walk or yoga, can further accelerate metabolism. Postures like Surya Namaskar and Bhujangasana are particularly effective for relieving bloating.
Sleep, too, plays a vital role. Seven to eight hours of uninterrupted rest helps the body recover and supports overall wellness. Limiting screen time before bed can enhance sleep quality and reduce post-festival fatigue.
Nutritionists emphasise that small, consistent changes can help the body recover quickly after festive indulgence, preparing it for upcoming celebrations such as Chhath Puja.
