Patna: Jan Suraaj Party founder and Bankipur MLA Prashant Kishor met Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit on Thursday and raised a range of issues concerning his constituency, including foodgrain distribution, drinking water, drainage, roads, street lighting, substance abuse, traffic management and roadside encroachments.
Kishor, who secured his first electoral victory in the recent Bankipur Assembly by-election, said the meeting was a follow-up to his discussion with the Director General of Police (DGP) last week.
“Today’s meeting should be viewed as a follow-up to the meeting I held with the DGP last week. Apart from the DGP, five other senior officials of Principal Secretary rank were also present at today’s meeting,” Kishor told reporters.
Education meeting planned for next month
Kishor said an agreement had also been reached to hold a separate meeting on issues concerning the Education Department next month.
The meeting will be chaired by the Chief Secretary, with Kishor saying he will personally attend it. He said further details would be shared later.
Foodgrain and drinking water issues raised
According to Kishor, the Chief Secretary assured him that effective steps would be taken to address complaints concerning beneficiaries not receiving the stipulated five kilograms of foodgrains.
Issues related to drinking water supply in the constituency were also discussed, he said.
Civic infrastructure under discussion
The Patna Municipal Corporation commissioner was present at the meeting, Kishor said.
Discussions were held on improving drainage, street infrastructure and street lighting under the Smart City project.
Kishor said these issues were considered alongside the broader concerns raised during his previous meeting with the DGP.

Substance abuse, traffic and encroachments
According to Kishor, substance abuse, traffic management and roadside encroachments had been discussed with the DGP last week and were taken up again during Thursday’s meeting.
He said there was consensus on preparing a detailed action plan to address these issues.
The meeting comes as Kishor begins to engage with the state administration on issues facing Bankipur, a central constituency in Patna, following his entry into the state Assembly through the recent by-election.
