Patna: Nepal police are investigating the death of Prince Yadav, associated with Patna-based Gyan Bindu coaching institute, after he died under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Biratnagar earlier this month.
Yadav, the brother of Gyan Bindu director Roshan Anand, was staying at the hotel with four Indian nationals, identified by police as his friends. All four are currently being questioned as part of the investigation.
Police said a Nepali citizen was also detained briefly but later released after questioning.
Medicines recovered from hotel room
Investigators said several medicines were recovered from the hotel room where Yadav had been staying. The substances are being examined as part of the inquiry.
Morang district police spokesperson DSP Markendra Kumar Mishra said the exact cause of death remains unclear and would only be confirmed after the postmortem report is received.
He said further action against those currently in custody would depend on the findings of the report.
Authorities seeking criminal records
Nepal police said they were coordinating with the health department to expedite the postmortem process.
Officials have also contacted Indian police to gather information on the criminal background of those being questioned, as part of a wider review of the case.
Police said all possible angles were being examined and declined to draw conclusions before the investigation is complete.
Friends cite health concerns
According to police sources, Yadav’s companions told investigators that he had been dealing with health issues and was taking medication from time to time.
Police said it was too early to determine whether the death was linked to an existing illness or other factors.
Fell ill at Biratnagar hotel
Yadav had travelled to Nepal with friends and was staying at a hotel in Biratnagar. Police said he fell ill late on 13 June and was taken to a local hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Link to Patna coaching dispute
The case has drawn attention in Bihar because Yadav was among those named in a recent dispute involving coaching institutes in Patna.
On June 2, he was booked in connection with an altercation involving coaching operators Faisal Khan and Roshan Anand. Police sources said Yadav had reportedly travelled to Nepal with his associates amid fears of arrest.
Roshan Anand was earlier arrested in connection with allegations of vandalism and stone-pelting at Faisal Khan’s coaching centre and was later released on bail.
