Muzaffarpur: A serious case of ragging has surfaced in the Paramedical Department of Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), prompting the administration to take swift disciplinary action. Principal Prof. Abha Rani Sinha has suspended seven second-year paramedical students from classes for 15 days after an emergency meeting of the Anti-Ragging Committee.
According to officials, the complaint revealed that junior students were allegedly summoned to the Super Specialty Block, where three of them had their hair forcibly cut. When they resisted, the seniors reportedly assaulted them. The victims later submitted a written complaint to the Principal, following which immediate action was initiated.
Sources said the suspended students belong to multiple trades, including two OT assistants, one laboratory technician, an ophthalmic technician, and an X-ray technician. All seven students have been directed to appear with their parents on December 2 for further administrative proceedings.
Principal Prof. Abha Rani Sinha said the institution treats ragging as a zero-tolerance offence. She added that the incident has damaged the college’s reputation and warned that harsher action would be taken against anyone found involved in similar acts in the future.
The Anti-Ragging Committee continues to review the details as the campus community expresses concern over the safety and dignity of students.
