Patna: Rahul Gandhi said while addressing the Voter Rights Yatra in Sasaram Today that 1 crore new voters had been “magically created” in Maharashtra after the Lok Sabha elections, handing the BJP alliance an unfair advantage. He warned that such “vote theft” would not be allowed in Bihar.
Joined by Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission of colluding with the ruling party to manipulate voter rolls. “Wherever these new voters appeared, the BJP alliance won. We did not lose a single vote, yet the numbers changed,” he told the gathering.
Calling it a “fight to save the Constitution and the right to vote,” Rahul said the opposition would expose what he described as systematic voter fraud across the country. “The poor and weaker sections only have their vote. We will not let it be stolen,” he declared.
He also referred to Karnataka, claiming investigations revealed that more than 1,75,000 votes were stolen in one assembly constituency, which helped the BJP win a Lok Sabha seat. Rahul alleged that the Election Commission refused requests for videography and CCTV evidence and demanded affidavits only from opposition leaders. “When BJP leaders hold press conferences, no affidavits are required. But when we raise questions, we are silenced,” he said.
Shifting focus to broader political promises, Rahul reiterated the India Alliance’s demand for a nationwide caste census and pledged to break the 50% reservation ceiling if elected. He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of running the government “for five or six billionaires,”
