Patna: Travel between Bihar and Delhi could soon become easier, with the state’s transport department drawing up plans for regular bus services connecting a dozen major cities to the national capital.
The proposal outlines routes from Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Buxar, Gaya, Kishanganj, Nawada, East Champaran, Araria, Bihar Sharif and Madhubani to New Delhi and the Kashmiri Gate interstate bus terminal. The buses would pass through several key towns in both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, strengthening regional connectivity.
According to officials, the services would run via cities including Ara, Chapra, Siwan, Gopalganj, Danapur, Bodhgaya, Nalanda and Sasaram, before continuing through Uttar Pradesh hubs such as Lucknow, Ayodhya, Agra, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kanpur and Aligarh.
The transport department published a draft of the proposed agreement between Bihar and Delhi on Wednesday and invited written suggestions and objections from vehicle owners and stakeholders up to December 12. Feedback submitted beyond that date will not be considered.
Travelling from Bihar to Delhi currently presents challenges, particularly for rail passengers who struggle to secure train tickets during peak periods. While some bus services already operate, they remain limited in number. Officials say a structured and expanded network would provide significant relief for frequent travellers, students and migrant workers.
