Patna: BJP leader and former Union Minister Raj Kumar Singh, popularly known as RK Singh, has demanded that Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, state BJP president Dilip Jaiswal and other senior leaders accused by Jan Suraj Party chief Prashant Kishore either respond to the allegations against them or resign.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Singh said the failure to address the charges was damaging the party’s credibility ahead of the assembly elections. “They should come forward and respond. If they have an answer, then so be it. If they don’t, then they should resign,” he said. “If they have an answer, they should even file a defamation suit. Otherwise, the silence only raises doubts.”
Prashant Kishore recently alleged that Chaudhary, Jaiswal, BJP leader Mangal Pandey, JDU leader Ashok Chaudhary, and MP Sanjay Jaiswal were linked to corruption and criminal activities. Kishore claimed that Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary is only a seventh-grade pass and had once been jailed in a murder case. He also accused Dilip Jaiswal of being involved in a murder and illegally taking over a minority medical college.
Endorsing JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar’s call for transparency, Singh said, “He (Samrat Chaudhary) should show his matriculation or graduation degree. This raises questions about the government’s credibility. Similarly, Ashok Chaudhary should explain where Rs 200 crore came from.”
The former Union minister further argued that silence would only fuel public mistrust. “If the allegations are true, then they should leave. Why tarnish the party’s image? This is causing the party’s graph to plummet,” he said.
Kishore, who has continued to escalate his attacks on the NDA, has demanded that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar sack Samrat Chaudhary, Ashok Chaudhary, and Mangal Pandey if they fail to offer explanations.
Singh, once a top bureaucrat who served as India’s home secretary before entering politics, was a Union minister in the Narendra Modi government for seven years. He lost the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Ara to CPI-ML’s Sudama Prasad, a defeat that highlighted the BJP’s setbacks in Shahabad and Magadh, where Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh’s independent campaign reshaped electoral outcomes.
