Patna: RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s daughter Rohini Acharya has shared an emotional social media post marking the third anniversary of his kidney transplant, just weeks after announcing her withdrawal from politics and family life.
Acharya posted a photograph on Facebook on Thursday morning showing herself with her father, alongside a caption that read: “Day of duty. This is a photo from 7:37am on December 5, 2022, before the surgery began. Today marks three years. May my God-like father live as long as I do.”
The message comes 20 days after Acharya abruptly left former chief minister Rabri Devi’s residence in Patna on November 15, the day after the Bihar assembly election results triggered internal discord within the Rashtriya Janata Dal. Earlier that day, she had announced on X that she was stepping away from both politics and family.
Acharya donated a kidney to Lalu Prasad in December 2022, in a procedure carried out in Singapore. The act drew widespread public admiration at the time.
Neither the RJD nor members of the Yadav family have commented publicly on the recent disagreement or on Acharya’s departure for Delhi.
