Samastipur: All A, B and C category stations under the Samastipur railway division, including local stations, will soon be equipped with a security siren system to enhance passenger safety.
Railway authorities have assigned the implementation work to a private agency, which will install panic emergency systems at stations across the division.
Under this system, if any passenger or railway employee senses danger, they can press a panic button, triggering a loud siren at the station. This will immediately alert passengers, station authorities and security agencies.
Installation work under way
Work has already begun on installing the panic emergency system along the Saharsa–Mansi section. In the second phase, the system will be extended to major stations such as Sitamarhi, Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Bettiah and Motihari.
Officials said the entire system will be monitored online by the division, with a target to complete installation at all stations within 45 to 50 days.
How the system works
According to officials, panic buttons will be installed on every platform and near ticket counters. The system will feature a prominent red button for easy access.
Once pressed, the siren will sound across the station, immediately notifying security personnel and the station master. At the same time, the division control system will receive real-time alerts, enabling a rapid response.
Authorities said the move is aimed at strengthening safety mechanisms and ensuring quick action during emergencies, helping protect both passengers and railway staff.
