Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is travelling to Delhi today, where he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will be the first formal meeting between the two leaders since Chaudhary took oath as Chief Minister on April 15. The visit is being seen as an important early step in setting the direction of Bihar’s governance under the new leadership.
According to reports, Chaudhary had recently requested an appointment with the Prime Minister’s Office. The meeting was earlier delayed due to PM Modi’s busy national schedule, but a time slot has now been confirmed. Political observers believe that key development issues related to Bihar are likely to be discussed during the meeting.
Since becoming Chief Minister, Samrat Chaudhary has been actively engaging with the public. He has been holding regular “Jan Darbars”, where he listens to citizens’ complaints and promises quick action. He has also stressed the need to improve governance in Bihar and make the administration more responsive and disciplined.
Chaudhary has also taken part in public programmes focused on social issues. Recently, he extended support to women protesting in Patna for the Women’s Reservation Bill and made strong statements about women’s safety and empowerment. At the same time, he has also launched political attacks on opposition parties, including the Congress and RJD.
With his first meeting with the Prime Minister now scheduled, attention is on what direction the new Bihar government will take in its early days and what support it may receive from the Centre for its development agenda.
