Patna: The Supreme Court has rejected a petition seeking the disqualification of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary from elections, admonishing the petitioner not to “waste the court’s time.” The petition, filed by a resident of Hyderabad, alleged that Choudhary had submitted multiple affidavits with inconsistent dates of birth and ages over the years.
The court heard the case through two benches before dismissing it outright. The petitioner claimed that Choudhary had described himself as a minor in 1995 for criminal proceedings, over 25 during the 1999 election, and had provided inaccurate ages in affidavits for the 2020 and 2025 elections. The petition sought cancellation of Choudhary’s nomination, registration of an FIR, and a directive for the Election Commission to investigate.
The BJP dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. Party spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said on X that the Supreme Court’s decision represented “a victory for truth and justice,” and the petitioner subsequently withdrew the charge sheet.
Nitish Kumar posters appear across Patna ahead of Bihar election

One post read, “Just wait for four days… Nitish ji’s government is coming back,” while another shared a video declaring, “Nitish Kumar is in every mother’s prayers.”

Samrat Choudhary reiterates support for Nitish Kumar and NDA
Responding to the political developments, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said Bihar is “the mother of democracy” and emphasised that the people ultimately decide the leadership. Speaking critically of the Congress party, he accused it of having “looted India for 55 years” and opposed reservation for backward classes and Dalits.
Choudhary added, “I am a political worker of the BJP. There is no vacancy in the NDA. Nitish Kumar is the Chief Minister today and will remain so tomorrow.”
