Patna: Sanjay Singh ‘Tiger’ assumed office today as the Minister for the Labor Resources Department in Bihar, vowing to strengthen the state’s labor welfare schemes and promote skill development among youth and workers. The ceremony was attended by former minister Santosh Kumar Singh, departmental officials, and staff.
Welcomed with bouquets by Secretary Deepak Anand, Special Secretary Sunil Kumar Yadav, and Labor Commissioner Rajesh Bharti, Singh outlined his vision for the department, emphasising the full implementation of existing labor schemes.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, my priority is to ensure ongoing labor schemes are fully executed on the ground,” Singh said. He highlighted skill development as a flagship initiative, directing the establishment of centres across Bihar to provide quality training for youth and workers.
Singh also stressed the importance of generating local employment opportunities. “Many laborers from Bihar work outside the state and even abroad. My goal is to provide employment through camps and encourage them to seek opportunities within Bihar,” he said. He underlined the need to verify government schemes physically to ensure that benefits reach the intended recipients.
The minister called for stricter enforcement of labor laws and stressed the significance of fair wages and social respect for workers. He also noted that benefits from the Bihar Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board must reach all eligible workers, and that the state’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) must be strengthened to provide quality education.
Singh highlighted the recent amendments to central labor codes, urging officials to ensure proper implementation. “The people of Bihar have high expectations of the government. It is our responsibility to meet those expectations and deliver tangible results in skill development and labor welfare,” he said.
He concluded with a call for collective effort: “I am confident that together we will establish a new identity for Bihar in the field of labor empowerment and skill development.”
