Patna: The SDRF Corps Headquarters in Bihta is nearing completion, with construction in its final stages. Built on 25 acres in Dilawarpur at a cost of Rs 287.52 crore, the state-of-the-art complex is designed to serve as a national hub for disaster preparedness and response.
Most of the buildings have been completed, including the administrative block, training facilities, officer and staff residences, barracks, quick response team building, and messes. Residences for inspectors, sub-inspectors and medical staff are also ready.
According to Building Construction Department secretary Kumar Ravi, the remaining work will be finished soon, with regular inspections ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
The complex will feature a national-level swimming pool for specialised flood rescue training, a modern auditorium, and a 1,240 kW solar plant alongside sewage and water treatment plants to ensure sustainability.
Until now, SDRF personnel have been training outside Bihar due to the lack of a dedicated centre, often resulting in delays and higher costs. The new facility is expected to streamline training and enable quicker, more effective disaster response across the state and beyond.
