Siwan: The Siwan Police have achieved a significant breakthrough in their efforts to dismantle organized crime, announcing the arrest of three individuals linked to the notorious Raees Khan gang and the massive seizure of illegal, high-power weaponry, including an AK-47 assault rifle.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Tiwari confirmed the success at a press conference, identifying the arrested as Abdul Kalam Azad, Babu Ali, and Samina Khatoon. The trio, who are associates of Raees Khan—a known criminal facing over 52 cases—were reportedly stockpiling the sophisticated arms to execute a “major crime” in the region.

The police action was initiated late Tuesday night after a precise tip-off regarding the storage of illegal firearms. A special team, led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sadar-1, rapidly deployed to Gyaspur village in the Siswan police station area to conduct the raid.
The targeted searches yielded an arsenal of weapons from the suspects’ residences:
- From Abdul Kalam Azad’s home, officers recovered an AK-47 assault rifle, a country-made pistol, and a large quantity of ammunition.
- A carbine and a significant cache of ammunition were found at Babu Ali’s house.
- A double-barreled gun and more ammunition were recovered from Samina Khatoon’s residence.
Ongoing Crackdown on the Khan Syndicate
SP Manoj Tiwari stated that the operation was conducted in collaboration with the Special Task Force (STF), emphasizing the coordinated effort to curb the gang’s activities.
“In a joint operation by the police and Special Task Force (STF), an AK-47, a large quantity of illegal firearms, and ammunition were recovered from the homes of three members of the Raees Khan gang. Three people have also been arrested,” SP Tiwari confirmed. He added that separate cases have been registered at Siswan police station, and an intensive investigation has begun to uncover other aspects of the matter and take further legal action.
This week’s bust is the latest in a series of actions against the syndicate. Earlier in September, police conducted similar raids on the Khan brothers’ hideouts, which resulted in the recovery of more AK-47s and modern weapons, and the arrest of four individuals, including Raees Khan himself, Aftab Alam, and Munna Mian.
