Patna: As the political temperature rises ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the stage is being set for a star-studded contest, with popular Bhojpuri and folk artists actively courting major political parties. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading the charge, showing increased interest in leveraging the cultural influence of these celebrities.
The recent flurry of high-profile meetings has fueled intense speculation about several stars making their electoral debut. Following the re-engagement of actor-singer Pawan Singh, who was recently welcomed back into the party fold by BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde after resolving internal differences, attention has shifted to two prominent women: folk singer Maithili Thakur and film actress Akshara Singh.
Thakur and Akshara Meet Key Leaders
Folk singer Maithili Thakur, known for her strong cultural roots, met with BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde and reportedly expressed her desire to contest the upcoming elections. Thakur’s popularity and clean image make her a valuable prospect for any party.
Simultaneously, Bhojpuri film actress Akshara Singh has also jumped into the political spotlight after meeting with Union Minister Giriraj Singh. While Akshara dismissed the meeting as merely a “Courtesy meeting and blessings received from the Union Minister of Bihar” in a social media post, the timing has intensified speculation that the actress is preparing for a political launch. The meeting is particularly notable given Akshara’s prior appearance alongside Jan Suraaj Convenor Prashant Kishor, underscoring the broad interest in her political potential.
Other Stars Position for RJD and Independents
The interest is not limited to the BJP. The reportage indicates that other influential figures are aligning with different political camps:
- Singer and actor Ritesh Pandey has already joined Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj platform.
- Singer Radheshyam Rasiya is also preparing to enter the electoral fray.
- Bhojpuri superstar Khesari Lal Yadav is widely discussed as a potential candidate, with strong rumors suggesting he may contest the elections on a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ticket.
As major political players solidify their candidate lists, the addition of these influential cultural figures—who command massive public followings—is expected to significantly raise the stakes and the celebrity quotient of the Bihar elections.
