Patna: Tension gripped the Mussalahpur area under Kadamkuan police station limits after an alleged incident of firing and stone-pelting at Khan Sir’s coaching centre late Tuesday night, prompting protests by students and a large police deployment on Wednesday.
Incident at Coaching Centre
According to police and local accounts, the incident occurred at the coaching centre located on Kisan Cold Storage Lane in Mussalahpur. A security guard sustained injuries during the alleged altercation inside the premises.
An FIR has been registered against 15 to 20 unidentified persons in connection with the incident. Classes at the institute were suspended following the episode.
Khan Sir reached the coaching centre around 11:30 pm after being informed about the situation. He alleged that shots were fired during the attack and claimed the incident was linked to rivalry among coaching centres over low-fee education models.
Student Protest and Road Blockade
On Wednesday morning, a large number of students gathered outside the coaching centre, expressing anger over the incident. The situation escalated as students blocked the road and staged a sit-in protest demanding immediate action.
Traffic movement in the area was disrupted as the protest continued, prompting authorities to tighten security.
Statements and Counter Claims
Khan Sir appealed to students from the balcony of the building, urging them to maintain peace and return home. However, the protest continued for several hours.
Police officials said that a counter-complaint has also been filed by the management of a coaching centre named ‘Gyan Bindu’, alleging that members of Khan Classes were involved in firing during the incident.
Kadamkuan Station House Officer Janmejay Kumar said both sides have made allegations of firing against each other and the matter is being examined.
Police Response and Investigation
Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma said strict action will be taken against those found involved after verification of facts.
Police forces from Kadamkuan station, along with additional units, were deployed immediately after information was received to bring the situation under control. Officials said efforts are underway to identify those involved and verify claims made by both sides.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and statements from witnesses to determine the sequence of events.
