Patna: The Prime Minister Surya Ghar Yojana has started gaining momentum across the country as the government pushes for affordable and clean energy solutions for households. The Electricity Department is implementing the scheme quickly at the grassroots level to help families struggling with rising electricity bills. Officials say solar energy is not only a cheaper alternative but also an important step toward reducing the pressure on traditional power resources.
Junior Electrical Engineer Sanjeev Kumar said this initiative of the Central Government encourages people to install rooftop solar panels. Interested consumers can apply online without complicated paperwork, making the process accessible to everyone. He added that the scheme’s main objective is to reduce dependence on conventional electricity and shift towards renewable sources that create a cleaner and greener environment.
Solar panels are proving especially helpful for families with higher electricity usage. Once installed, they allow households to generate power directly from sunlight, lowering monthly expenses and offering long-term benefits. Assistant Electrical Engineer Sanjay Kumar explained that a 3-kilowatt solar panel setup can generate around 300 units of electricity every month, which can save a family nearly Rs 15,000 in a year.
The scheme is expected to bring major relief to households whose monthly electricity bills range between Rs 1,600 and Rs 2,000. Officials are encouraging consumers to take full advantage of the programme and contribute to the use of clean, efficient and sustainable energy. The Electricity Department has appealed to the public to participate in large numbers so that more families can become self-reliant in energy and the country can make faster progress in solar adoption.
