Patna: With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, political tensions in the state are rising. Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) supremo Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, has made a strong and emotional statement that has grabbed attention across Bihar’s political circles. During an interview, Tej Pratap said, “I am willing to die but will not return to RJD.” His words clearly showed his anger and disappointment with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the party once led by his father and now by his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav.
Tej Pratap Yadav has been active in his Mahua constituency, meeting people and holding public meetings. He has said that his main goal is to serve the people and not to chase political power. “My party is Janshakti Janata Dal. I am not greedy for power. For me, principles and self-respect are more important than positions or posts,” he said. His statement comes at a time when political alliances and power struggles are shaping the future of Bihar’s leadership, making his stand even more noticeable.
When asked about Tejashwi Yadav’s position as a possible Chief Ministerial candidate, Tej Pratap gave a sharp reply. He said, “Power is given only to those who get the blessings of the people. He is my younger brother, and I can bless him, but I cannot hold the Sudarshan Chakra.” This remark was seen as a mix of criticism and emotional distance. It also showed that Tej Pratap does not wish to compete directly with his brother but wants to walk his own political path based on his beliefs.
Talking about his relationship with his parents, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, Tej Pratap said he does not speak with them now but still believes their blessings are with him. “I don’t speak, but their blessings are with me,” he said. It is worth noting that Tej Pratap was earlier expelled from both the party and his family after internal disputes. However, he insists that the people of Mahua stand firmly by his side and that he continues to receive overwhelming support from his constituency. “I have been connected with Mahua long before entering politics,” he said confidently.
Tej Pratap also made it clear that he does not consider the RJD candidate Mukesh Roshan a strong challenge. He said that the people’s faith and affection are his biggest strength. With his open criticism of RJD and his brother Tejashwi, Tej Pratap’s bold words have added new energy to the Bihar election scene. His remarks not only highlight the deep political differences within the Yadav family but also reflect the complex and emotional side of Bihar’s politics.
As the election campaign heats up, all eyes will be on how Tej Pratap Yadav’s independent path affects the political equations in the state. Whether his stand for “self-respect over power” will win public support or isolate him further remains to be seen, but his statement has surely made him one of the most talked-about figures in the Bihar Election 2025.
