Patna: Rabri Devi, former chief minister of Bihar and a well-known face in the state’s politics, celebrated her birthday on Wednesday in a quiet and simple manner. This year was different from earlier occasions, as she was not present at her Patna residence, which usually sees visitors and well-wishers on her birthday. Rabri Devi, who is the wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal founder Lalu Prasad Yadav and the mother of Bihar’s leader of the opposition Tejashwi Yadav, is currently in Delhi with her husband.
Despite the silence at the family home in Patna, the day gained attention because of an emotional message shared by her eldest son, Tej Pratap Yadav. Tej Pratap, who has been away from the family spotlight for some time, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to wish his mother. In his post, he called Rabri Devi his “biggest inspiration” and described her as the emotional strength of the family, words that quickly touched many supporters.
In his message, Tej Pratap wrote that his mother is the reason the family feels like a home. He spoke about her love, patience and sacrifices, saying that she gave everything without expecting anything in return. He also praised her courage, saying she remained strong even during difficult times when her efforts were not always visible to others. The message reflected deep respect and affection, highlighting the role Rabri Devi played in holding the family together.
The birthday was also marked by the absence of other close family members. Tejashwi Yadav is currently travelling abroad with his wife, while Rabri Devi and Lalu Prasad Yadav are staying in Delhi. This made it the first time that her Patna residence remained largely deserted on her birthday. Even so, Tej Pratap’s heartfelt words stood out, showing that beyond political differences and distances, the bond between a mother and her son remains strong and meaningful.
