Patna: Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has said that if CM Nitish Kumar returns to the Mahagathbandhan, he will ask to be made the chief minister. Speaking at an event in Patna, Yadav remarked, “Uncle, you’ve had 20 years — now give 5 years to the nephew.”
Tejashwi Prasad, who served as deputy chief minister twice under Nitish Kumar in previous Mahagathbandhan governments, said he is confident that the alliance will secure a majority in the upcoming election. He emphasised that the RJD expects to lead the government if it wins more seats, and there will be no compromise on the chief minister’s post this time.
Criticising the current state of CM Nitish’s Janata Dal ,Tejashwi Prasad alleged that the BJP is gradually dismantling JD(U) from within. “JD(U) has become a BJP cell. There is an RSS quota running in JD(U),” he said, accusing the BJP of placing its loyalists in key party positions. He named Sanjay Jha as an example, claiming he was appointed from Arun Jaitley’s quota, and labelled him a “BJP man.”
Tejashwi Prasad also claimed that BJP leaders Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha are being misled, and that the party actually plans to make Mangal Pandey the chief minister if it comes to power. He further alleged that all senior JD(U) ministers are aligning with the BJP and that CM Nitish’s political era is nearing its end.
