West Champaran : Stones were pelted at the Vande Bharat Express once again in Bihar on Friday morning, in the latest incident in a series of similar attacks on the semi-high-speed train. The incident occurred near Avasani Halt, under the Pathkhauli OP police station in Bagaha, West Champaran district, while the train was en route from Gorakhpur to Patna.
According to officials, three individuals were allegedly involved in the attack. One of the train’s coach windows was damaged in the incident, though no injuries were reported among the passengers.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) responded swiftly and detained one suspect, identified as Sudarshan. He is currently being interrogated, and CCTV footage from the area is under review. RPF officials noted that the detained suspect is over 13 years of age.
In response to the recurring issue of stone pelting, the RPF has launched an awareness campaign in affected areas to curb such acts of vandalism. Officials say the campaign aims to sensitise local communities, especially children and teenagers, about the dangers and consequences of such actions.
This is not the first instance of stone pelting on the Vande Bharat Express in the state. On Sunday, a similar attack occurred near Mohammadpur Balmi village in Muzaffarpur district, when children allegedly threw stones at train number 26502 while it was travelling from Gorakhpur to Pataliputra. Fortunately, there were no passengers in the affected coach at the time.
