Patna: Bihar’s political climate has been roiled by allegations from Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, who has accused deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha of possessing two voter identity cards and manipulating his age.
At a press conference, Yadav claimed Sinha’s name appears in the electoral rolls of two separate assembly constituencies — Lakhisarai and Patna’s Bankipur — in violation of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, which prohibits a voter from being registered in more than one constituency.

According to Yadav, Sinha’s Lakhisarai EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) number is IAF3939337, showing his age as 57, with his father’s name recorded as Sharda Raman Singh. The Bankipur EPIC, AFS0853341, lists his age as 60. “This is a direct breach of Sections 17 and 18 of the Representation of the People Act,” Yadav said.
The controversy follows the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, during which 6.5 million duplicate names were removed from Bihar’s voter rolls. Yadav questioned why Sinha’s alleged duplicate registration had not been addressed. “When it comes to us, action is immediate. Why no notice to him? Let’s see how quickly the Election Commission acts now,” he said, accusing Sinha of being “Modi ji’s special” and calling the matter “real fraud”.
