Patna: The Building Construction Department is set to revamp entry and parking arrangements at Vikas Bhawan in Patna, with a holding area planned near the main gate to streamline security checks and vehicle movement.
The proposed changes are aimed at preventing vehicles carrying ministers and senior officials from being held up during security screening at the entrance.
Holding Area Planned Near Main Gate
Vikas Bhawan houses offices of several state government departments, including Education, Health, Industries, Art and Culture, Urban Development and Housing, Sugarcane Industries, Agriculture, Prohibition and Commercial Taxes.
The chambers of ministers and senior officials from these departments are also located in the building.
At present, security personnel inspect vehicles entering the premises. When several vehicles queue up for screening, those carrying ministers and senior officials can also be forced to wait until vehicles ahead have been checked.
The proposed holding area will be used to stop and screen vehicles belonging to other visitors before they proceed towards the main entrance.
The arrangement is expected to reduce congestion at the gate and allow vehicles of ministers and senior officials to enter without unnecessary delays.
Dedicated Parking For Officials
The department is also working to reorganise parking inside the Vikas Bhawan premises.
New parking facilities for two-wheelers and cars have already been created. The department now plans to regulate their use and allocate parking spaces more systematically.
Officials posted across different departments who have been provided with four-wheelers will be identified and listed. Dedicated parking spaces will subsequently be reserved for their vehicles.
Other vehicles will not be allowed to use these designated spaces. Parking areas will also be marked according to the respective departments.
Two-Wheeler Parking At Suchna Bhawan
With the number of two-wheelers increasing, the department has also identified vacant space at Suchna Bhawan, located opposite Vikas Bhawan, for additional parking.
A dedicated two-wheeler parking facility is proposed at the site to accommodate vehicles and ease pressure on the existing parking areas within the Vikas Bhawan premises.
