Patna: Xavier University, Patna, celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day on 15 August with a colourful and inspiring programme on campus. The event began at 9am with the flag hoisting by Chief Guest Col (Retd) Amit Sinha. As the tricolour rose high, the national anthem filled the air, creating a moment of pride for everyone present.
The Vice-Chancellor welcomed students and staff, urging them to follow the values of the nation’s founders. He said that if every citizen works on improving themselves, India can achieve peace and prosperity. The Dhwani Club then sang a patriotic song that set the mood for the celebrations.
Col Sinha shared his experiences from the armed forces, speaking about discipline, service, and national pride. The university also released two books containing research papers by faculty and scholars, showing its commitment to education and knowledge sharing.
The cultural programme included a touching mime performance by the Xavier Theatre Club, honouring the Indian Army’s peacetime service, and a lively patriotic dance by the Xavier Dance Club. The event ended with the distribution of traditional sweets, leaving everyone with a sense of togetherness and pride in the nation.
