Banka/Patna: Police in Bihar have arrested a youth from Punjab for allegedly threatening to kill Building Construction Minister and Amarpur MLA Jayant Raj on Facebook Messenger while claiming affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The accused has been identified as Sandeep Paswan, a resident of Salempur in the Amarpur police station area. A mobile phone used in the incident was also seized.
According to officials, the threat was sent on September 22, when Paswan allegedly messaged the minister’s Facebook account with pictures of weapons, identifying himself as part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and vowing to kill him.
The minister’s secretary, Mohan Kumar Singh, lodged an FIR at the Amarpur police station, prompting Superintendent of Police Upendranath Verma to form a special investigation team led by SDPO Amar Vishwas and Cyber DSP Anupesh Narayan.
Technical surveillance led police to Ludhiana, where Paswan was arrested during a raid. Authorities said initial investigations revealed he had no criminal history and no genuine links to the Bishnoi gang.
SP Verma said further legal action was being taken. “The accused attempted to create fear by misusing the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He has no previous record,” he added.
