Patna: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has floated a tender for the construction of an 82.4km Greenfield four-lane highway connecting Mokama in Patna district to Munger in Bihar. The project, estimated at Rs 2,243.16 crore, is expected to be completed within 29 months of awarding the contract, Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin announced on Thursday.
The last date for submitting bids is 10 September, with construction slated to begin within two months of finalising the tender. The new stretch will form part of National Highway 33 and includes a 14km section of the Raxaul-Haldia Expressway, spanning from Karjara in Munger to Pathansh.
Land acquisition is currently underway in the Margrakhan green zone to facilitate construction. Once completed, the road will provide uninterrupted four-lane connectivity from Buxar to Mirzachauki via Mokama and Munger. It will also link with existing Greenfield corridors from Patna to Mokama and from Munger to Mirzachauki.
“This project aligns with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s vision of strengthening infrastructure across Bihar,” said Nabin. “It will significantly improve connectivity for residents of remote regions and contribute to the goal of enabling four-hour travel to the state capital.”
