Patna: In a virtual review meeting with all regional executive engineers on Monday, Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin issued a directive to identify and report on all damaged roads and bridges across the state within 72 hours. The meeting, which was also attended by departmental secretary Sandeep Pudukalkatti and other senior officials, focused on immediate action to address the state of Bihar’s road infrastructure.
Minister Nabin instructed all executive engineers to be on “alert mode” and to conduct regular field inspections of affected areas. He mandated that repair work begin on a “war footing” to ensure that the roads are quickly and safely restored. He also emphasized the need to identify and resolve any drainage problems that could impact road integrity.
The Minister specifically highlighted the importance of preserving the structural integrity of all bridges, calling for continuous monitoring of both their upper and lower layers. He further demanded that comprehensive drainage systems be put in place to prevent waterlogging.
Nabin warned that accountability would be fixed for any negligence or laxity in carrying out these instructions. To maintain smooth traffic flow during emergencies, he also called for the immediate arrangement of alternative routes. The minister concluded by reaffirming the Bihar government’s commitment to providing better, smoother, and safer road connectivity for all citizens.
