Patna: Patna Traffic Police have announced a detailed traffic and parking plan for Independence Day, with restrictions in place from 7am on Friday until the conclusion of the main ceremony at Gandhi Maidan. The measures aim to ensure security and smooth movement during the flag hoisting by the Chief Minister at 9am.
Vehicle entry will be restricted from Dak Bungalow Square to Gandhi Maidan, and designated parking areas have been assigned for visitors. Attendees have been urged to park by 8.30am. Colour-coded parking permits will be enforced, with yellow cards allocated to the media. Emergency vehicles will be exempt from the restrictions.
Entry points will vary: senior state leaders will enter through Gate 1; VIP and VVIP guests through Gate 10; media via Gate 9; women through Gates 12 and 13; students through Gates 2, 3 and 4; and the general public through Gates 6 and 7. Bicycle and motorcycle parking will be provided on the eastern side near Udyog Bhawan.
Key traffic restrictions include:
- No movement of general vehicles from Dak Bungalow Square to Gandhi Maidan along Fraser Road until the event ends.
- Closures on routes leading east from Kotwali ‘T’ to Police Line, and from Chhajjubaag towards TN Banerjee Road and Buddha Marg.
- Access to JP Ganga Path near the Commissioner’s Office limited to vehicles with official passes.
- Fraser Road between Dak Bungalow and JP Golambar reserved for the Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and VIP pass holders.
- Parking bans along Deshratna Marg, Circular Road, Bailey Road and other key stretches around Gandhi Maidan, with unauthorised vehicles subject to crane removal.
Goods and commercial vehicle movement will also be heavily curtailed, with restrictions on key junctions including Chirayatand, Mithapur, R Block and Dumra Chowki. Autos and e-rickshaws will be diverted to alternative routes, and city bus services will operate on modified paths to avoid the Maidan area.
