Patna: Gold and silver prices have gone up sharply in Patna as the festive season begins, but this has not stopped people from shopping. With Teej and Ganesh Chaturthi around the corner, jewellery shops are crowded with buyers eager to purchase ornaments for the celebrations.
On Saturday, 24-carat gold was selling for Rs 100,000 per 10 grams in Patna’s bullion market, which rises to Rs 103,000 with GST. The price of 22-carat gold stood at Rs 92,300 per 10 grams, while 18-carat gold was at Rs 75,600 per 10 grams.
Silver prices are also high, with one kilogram costing Rs 114,000, or Rs 117,420 including GST. Hallmark silver jewellery was priced at Rs 112 per gram, while non-hallmark silver stood at Rs 107 per gram. Many buyers said they preferred silver this season as its rate is more stable compared to gold.
Traders believe that prices of both gold and silver may rise further in the coming days due to global market trends and geopolitical tensions. Still, demand remains strong, and old jewellery is fetching high exchange rates — Rs 89,800 for 22-carat and Rs 73,100 for 18-carat. Despite soaring prices, festive spirit has kept the jewellery market buzzing in Patna.
