Muzaffarpur: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president and Union Minister Chirag Paswan urged voters to prioritise Bihar’s development and the welfare of its citizens at the Nav Sankalp Mahasabha held at MIT College Campus in Muzaffarpur on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, Paswan described the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections as a defining moment for the state. “This year is very special for Bihar. These elections will decide the future of the state for the next five years. If mistakes are made, Bihar will fall into the hands of those who have historically pushed Biharis behind,” he said, calling on party workers to carry the message of “Bihar First, Bihari First” to every household.
Paswan criticised the state’s lagging development, noting that while other Indian states have flourished, Bihar continues to struggle with unemployment and migration. “Even after 80 years of independence, Bihar remains backward. Youth and students are forced to leave for education and employment, while few come here from Delhi or Mumbai. Bihar should be a place where opportunities attract people, not drive them away,” he said.

The leader also recounted personal challenges, claiming attempts were made to isolate and intimidate him. “I was separated from my family, thrown out of my house, but I will neither break nor bow down. I am not afraid of anyone. I am the son of a lion,” he said.
Paswan criticised caste-based politics, asserting his party promotes what he called the “M-Y equation”: women (who make up half the population) and youth (65% of Bihar’s population) as central to development. He also condemned rival parties for allegedly disrespecting women, framing the upcoming elections as a chance to support leaders who champion both cultural heritage and women’s empowerment.
