Patna: A state-wide tree plantation campaign is underway in Bihar as part of the Seva Parv, running from September 17 to October 2. On Saturday, a special programme was held at Rajdhani Vatika, where Bhojpuri cinema actor Dinesh Lal Yadav, popularly known as ‘Nirahua’, planted a camphor tree and called for greater public participation in environmental protection.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Dr Sunil Kumar, present as chief guest, also planted a sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative. He emphasised the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and improving quality of life, adding that 2.8 lakh trees would be planted across the state during the fortnight.
Nirahua echoed the call, urging people to view tree plantation not just as a task but as a legacy for future generations. The event saw a large turnout of schoolchildren, who pledged to protect the environment and promote greenery.
