Patna: The city of Patna has been placed under heightened security ahead of the Navratri festival, with authorities deploying 7,200 police and paramilitary personnel to ensure public safety.
Patna’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Kartikeya Sharma, said all officers have been put on high alert, with continuous patrolling in sensitive areas of the city. The police have urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid rumours, and report any suspicious objects or activity immediately.
The security plan includes five companies of the Bihar Special Armed Police, one company each of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and 16 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), alongside 2,200 local police officers.
Authorities are also using technology to monitor the city in real time. Drones and CCTV cameras will track crowds and detect suspicious movements, while both permanent and temporary control rooms have been set up to coordinate the response. Officers have been instructed to remain operational 24/7, particularly given the ongoing Bihar elections, which have prompted additional focus on law and order.
