Patna: Bihar has added three new Amrit Bharat trains to its railway network, improving connectivity to Telangana, Rajasthan, and Delhi. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged off the services on Monday via video conference, highlighting the initiative as a boost for regional travel.
The Ministry of Railways hopes the new trains will ease travel for passengers across the state while linking Bihar’s major towns to key cities nationwide. Trains now operate from stations including Darbhanga, Saharsa, Sitamarhi, Gaya, Rajendra Nagar, Motihari, and Jogbani, connecting commuters to Delhi, Mumbai, and beyond, as well as to destinations in South India and Punjab. Specific routes include Darbhanga to Anand Vihar and Gomtinagar, Saharsa to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Amritsar, Rajendra Nagar to New Delhi, Gaya to Delhi, and Motihari to Anand Vihar. Long-distance services also run from Malda, Jogbani, and Sitamarhi.

Designed with middle-class and general-class passengers in mind, the Amrit Bharat Express combines affordability with modern amenities. Coaches feature enhanced seating, foldable snack tables, mobile holders, and reflective floor strips to improve visibility at night, aiming to prioritise comfort on long journeys.
The expansion reflects the government’s continued effort to modernise India’s railways while making long-distance travel safer and more convenient for everyday passengers.
