Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a huge wave of development projects across the state. At a special event held at ‘Sankalp’, 1 Anne Marg, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated a total of 20,658 schemes worth Rs 11,921 crore. The ceremony was conducted remotely, with ministers, senior officials, and representatives from various departments joining through video conferencing.
Out of the total, 16,065 schemes worth Rs 7,805 crore were launched to begin work, and 4,593 schemes worth Rs 4,116 crore were inaugurated as completed projects. These include public utility and infrastructure works across multiple departments like science and technology, transport, agriculture, social welfare, disaster management, minority welfare, and sports. The government said these projects will improve basic facilities in the state and provide new opportunities for development.
A large share of the funds — over Rs 5,190 crore — will go towards providing clean drinking water to villages and hamlets that were previously left out. In the health sector, the government announced 281 new projects worth Rs 1,121 crore to build critical care blocks, new hospitals, medicine stores, and health centres in different districts. Another 144 completed health projects worth Rs 272 crore were inaugurated. Tourism development was also a focus, with 17 projects worth Rs 497 crore being launched. In addition, Rs 81.29 crore was directly sent to 13,716 farmers under the Chief Minister’s Private Tubewell Scheme.
Speaking at the event, Nitish Kumar said these projects will give “a new direction and speed to development work” in Bihar and will directly improve the lives of people. He congratulated all departments involved for their efforts. Senior leaders, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, ministers from different departments, and top bureaucrats were present at the event, while many others joined online.
